Generally, 20 or 30 students, with anywhere from 6-12 new students admitted each year (depending on the program). It is generally a 3 year program, with high school students generally being admitted before their sophomore years. The acceptance rates for most programs are well within the single digits due to this, but we make the K-8 programs much more accessible.Â
Vitality is a year round program. Please notify well ahead of time if there are circumstances that prevent students from being able to work during a certain week. Expect to put in around 40 hours a week during breaks and 15 hours a week during the school year. Vitality is designed to be a 3 year, 3000 hour challenge with academics, student-self governance, service, labor, travel, physical challenges, and much more.
Again, fully depends on which program. No program will have an annual due of more than $500 a year, with it being free in cases of genuine financial need. However, we currently do expect students to cover at least the bulk of the travel costs, which heavily vary. We definitely hope to cut the cost down as much as possible in the future.
Usually each season aligns with the end of the school year in the local area (in most areas, June to June). Most competitions occur during the back half of the season, with admissions released usually around halfway through each season.
No experience is required (in most cases). We look for students who genuinely want this opportunity the most and have the desire to serve humanity, work with others, and challenge themselves. We very much have a holistic application process, and it is largely up to current students within the program to decide who to admit.
Unfortunately, we run all of our programs in person due to the interactiveness required as part of the Vitality experience. However, feel free to send us an email and we will do our best to start a program in your area in the near future (or find adults who are willing to help!)
